Review 2018-2019

Knutsford Rugby Club

Whilst we celebrate another year of achievement at Knutsford Rugby Club, it's important to recognise the impact that our sponsors Valley Resource, WPI Group and Gough Associates have had on the club. Their incredible support over the years has created new platforms and opportunities for the club to grow and develop into a vibrant, friendly and fun place to play rugby, bringing people from all walks of life together. It's a great success and one we are immensely proud of.

This year we now have Chris Edmonds and Will Cliff (Will is currently a member of the 1st XV team at Sale Sharks having amassed over 150 appearances in two stints at the Premiership Club) and our senior captain, Sam Bensky, elegantly delivering a true team experience both on and off the field. Our mini and junior section, splendidly chaired by Chris Edmonds, reached new heights once again with a dazzling group of coaches who have shaped and enthused young players from aged 6 upwards. Chris has played a pivotal role in the club, he has been inspirational in growing the mini and junior section and we are truly thankful for his amazing commitment and drive to make things happen.

I should also take this opportunity to highlight our considerable achievements and recognise our astonishing, motivated and charismatic volunteers. For our junior section we achieved an increase in the number of players to 240 throughout all age groups and our first ever Colts Development team playing with considerable style and flair. A most impressive result for players who have been together since our first season some 13 years ago. The end of season junior tours were also quite an achievement with a colossal 180 juniors and parents on tour.

For our senior section we achieved a step change in the numbers of new players joining the club which is great credit to the entire squad as we adapted to the Sales Sharks Leagues winning promotion to Division 4 South. Finally, it is also important to recognise the amazing support of Knutsford Academy in helping the club grow and create a great space for developing sport in the community.
